Draft Update: Big Easy for Graham, Big Tex for Sharpton, D-Town for Fox,

Jimmy Graham was drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by the New Orleans Saints. Graham played 4 years of basketball and then decided to switch over to football his senior year at the U. This move proved to be a great decision as the World Champion New Orleans Saints saw something they could use in Jimmy and picked him up as the first University of Miami player chosen this year.

Daryl Sharpton was chosen by the Houston Texans. Sharpton has been a steady asset for the Miami Hurricanes over the years. Sharpton was a second team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2009. He led the `Canes in unassisted tackles (65) and total tackles (106).

Jason Fox was drafted in the fourth round by the Detroit Lions. Fox was the 30th pick in the fourth round, he is a 6-foot-6, 300-pound converted tight end for the Hurricanes.

Dedrick Epps TE, was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 7th round of the draft.

Were Going Going.... Back Back.... to Tally, Tally....

The Canes are on their way back to Tallahassee to take on the nasty Noles and they are looking for back to back ACC series wins.

There is bad blood between Mike Martin and Jim Morris, although they probably won't admit that publicly at this point, but we all know its true. The Canes had a heated meeting between the two teams when they met last after Mike Martin accused the Hurricanes of stealing signs. Jim Morris coached under Mike Martin so the rivalry heats up even beyond the already existent turmoil between the teams for in state bragging rights in just about every sport.

The Canes come into the matchup hot with Yasmani Grandal leading the Canes batting over .400 with 40+ RBI's. The Hurricanes also have a better conference record than the Seminoles. PItching will truly be a key in this matchup as the Canes starters are averaging less than a 4.0 era.

First game kicks off at 6 p.m. tonight, Friday April 23, 2010. LETS GO CANES...

As we predicted...Canes sweep NC in baseball

As we predicted in our earlier post this week, the Canes have swept the Tarheels in baseball. The Canes came in to the series with a 5 game losing streak against NC and they were determined to make a point. Well they did just that by bringing out the broom and sweeping them off the field.

Saturday night they put a 11-1 beat-down on the Heels'. Sunday they were postponed nearly two hours as the game finished in the 8th inning on a past ball which led to the Canes scoring the winning run from 3rd. The game was scheduled for 1:00 pm Sunday and didn;t end till nearly 6:00pm due to the delays.

With this win the Hurricanes should move back into the top 10.

Canes Baseball Takes on North Carolina Tarheels At Mark Light

The Canes take on the North Carolina Tarheels this weekend at home for a 3 game series. This is a conference matchup and goo school rivalry over the past few years.

We are looking for some big bats from the Canes and some lights out pitching from the staff. If so, we may have a good chance at sweeping the Heels, or at least 2 of 3, but were hoping for 3.

The first game kicks off Friday at 7 p.m.

Lady Canes Lose WNIT Final 63-61 to Cal

Hats off to the University of Miami Women's Basketball team. They had a great run in the WNIT tournament, but unfortunately came up short in today's championship game.

Shenise Johnson had 21 points and Riquna Williams had 20 in the loss. The Canes put on a comeback rally that just wasn't enough in the second half. Cal's Denesha Stallworth put up 21 and Alexis Gray-Lawson had 17.
