Canes Baseball To Start Freshman Season Opener Friday

Freshman LHP Bryan Radziewski will start the Hurricanes’ baseball season opener Friday night against Rutgers at Alex Rodriguez Park. Morris said he believes it’s the first time in his 18th season at UM that he has had a freshman start the opener.

“The reason why is because he has thrown by far the best of anybody in the fall and spring,” Morris said of the former Florida Christian School standout from Miami.

Hurricanes Athletics to Have Social Media Day Tomorrow Feb. 18, 2011

Hurricane Sports is reporting that the Miami Hurricanes athletics web staff will be holding its first ever Social Media Day tomorrow, Friday February 18, 2011.

Miami will be the first college athletics department to communicate solely through social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, UStream, YouTube and an unprecedented 14 hours of Live Chats with Hurricane coaches and standout student-athletes.

From 8 a.m. through the final out of the Miami baseball season opener against Rutgers, the staff of HurricaneSports.com will forget its official website - HurricaneSports.com - and communicate directly with fans through 14-plus hours of live chats, tweets and Facebook posts.

An updated lineup of live chat guests is at the bottom of this article.

As Hurricane news breaks throughout the day, Facebook, Twitter & UStream will be the place to read about it, comment on it and retweet to friends and fellow Miami fans. Make sure you "Like" the Miami Hurricanes on Facebook (Direct Link) and that you are following all of UM's Twitter accounts (complete list), but most importantly @HurricaneSports.

To cap off Social Media Day, UM will debut multi-camera broadcast coverage of every pitch from the Hurricanes season opener. The video team behind Canes All-Access successfully tested the streaming broadcast during the Alumni Game and Home Run Derby last weekend and will take it to the free UStream platform for the Friday night game.

So now the real question is, who do you want to see during the first ever Social Media Day? What players and coaches do you want to Chat with? And are you going to call in sick and spend the day talking about the C-A-N-E-S with the entire UM nation? Use the links below to make your requests for players and coaches.
