FSU vs Miami : Lets Ready To Cause Some Fumbles
What is it gonna take to make this happen?
It is going to take a lot of control by the offense first and foremost with the game clock. We want to control as much of the playing time as possible by spreading out drives to 10 plays 6-7 minutes at a time. We need to use our big offensive line who is getting better every week and run the ball straight up the gut for 4.5 yards each time. Jacory needs to stay focused on those who are going to catch the ball and be spectacular afterwards. We have too many potential talents and we need to focus on current talents during game-time. Our current proven talents are Hankerson and Berry, they both perform well consistently. Get them the ball constantly and they will be move the chains.
Defense needs to get out its hammer and smack down the FSU offense. Defense needs to concentrate on causing turnovers, fumbles specifically. We see the defense causing some fumbles in this game which could be the difference in the game if the offense fails to produce. Defensive intimidation from the first set of downs will be crucial for the Canes, so they need to establish their presence immediately.
Lets Go Canes.

Canes Storm Through Clemson
Jacory is not producing beyond expectations, currently he is failing to meet the high hopes Hurricane fans have for him. He has a great career completion percentage which shows he has delivered the ball well the majority of the time, but the interceptions overshadow this tremendously. To his credit, about 30% of his interceptions have been the rceivers fault but that's really it, the rest are his mistakes. Nevertheless we will take the win and look forward to Florida State.
We expect Jacory will be up for the game and we expect to see a big game out of him as he knows how much the game means tomCanes fans. We need to give him the support he needs from the Canes fan base and the crowd noise he expects against FSU at the stadium.
Let's go Canes

Good Win For Canes Helps Move Past Loss
Jacory was just average, he had another 2 interceptions and continued to float most of his passes to his receivers. Jacory just doesn't get it or just can't get it, he has no velocity on his passes at all. Harris continually floats passes into receivers that could be picked off at anytime, he came close to having 2 additional interceptions against Pitt which would have gave him 8 in two games, instead we settled for 6 in two games.
Looking past Jacory, we saw Damien Berry rush for 87 yards on 21 carries and score a touchdown. Berry averaged 4.1 yards per carry and shared time with Lamar Miller. Miller had 8 carries for 31 yards and 1 touchdown, averaging 3.9 yards per carry. Travis Benjamin was the leading receiver this week with 1 TD on 6 receptions for 96 yards, Benjamin now has 158 yards this season from 10 receptions giving him an average of 15.8 yards per catch. Hankerson had only 36 yards in the game on 3 receptions but one was a touchdown which was lobbed up for him in the end zone from Jacory. Hankerson has 241 yards this season with 16 receptions, he his averaging 15 yards per catch. Laron Byrd had 6 receptions in the game for 69 yards, he has 118 yards on 12 receptions this season. All in all the Canes had 7 receivers catch passes including Berry and James out of the backfield.
Defense was strong with Sean Spence leading the way with 9 tackles (6 of which were solo), and 2 sacks. Miami had 6 total sacks on the day with 2 more coming from defensive linemen Andrew Smith, 1 from Colin Mcarthy and 1 from Allen Bailey. ryanHill had a great afternoon as well, he had 5 tackles 4 of which were solo and an interception. Demarcus VanDyke also had a pick in the game and took it for 74 yards.
The Canes are now looking towards Clemson next week as a big ACC rival matchup goes down in South Carolina. The Canes are 1-2 against the Clemson Tigers over the past 3 match-ups.

Part 2: Harris Vs Pryor On Sportscenter
Well Mr. McShay, here is what we think about your statement. Next week when Pryor is feeling the pressure as the Hurricanes ransack his pocket time and time again you can point out how although he tried his best, the Canes were just to overwhelming.
McShay continues to ride high on his "We Are Marshall" train by going on to say that we learned nothing about Jacory Harris in the FAMU game this past week, but we learned a lot from the Marshall game and Pryor.
NOTE: Jacory completed 80% of his passes and threw 3 touchdowns for 210 yards during the game.
McShay concluded by saying both of the pressure mistakes from Harris he highlighted in the North Carolina game last year came while being hit during passing. Matich jumps in and says " Well I think that was a great throw, he got hit in the mouth as he released and still hit his receiver in the hands, that was pretty good!"
Matich went on to say that he sees moments of spectacular play from Harris and that he also sees moments of inconsistency. Matich thinks Jacory will have to be consistent this Saturday and we have no argument here, we agree that Jacory needs to be rock solid this Saturday. There is a lot of pressure on Jacory's shoulders this week and he will need to be dialed in, and we believe he will be.
Matich also says Harris made of the best reads he has ever seen by a quarterback against FSU last year when down by 3 points. Harris hit Travis Benjamin for a 45 yard completion to set up the winning touchdown, but Benjamin was not the primary receiver, the tight end was supposed to be. Matich says "when Harris sees that the play has fallen apart and the tight end is tied up, he hits his receiver with pressure coming from the right side for a 45 yard gain. Now that was an amazing adjustment under pressure."
Part 1: Harris Vs Pryor On Sportscenter
Todd McShay started out by saying he thought Terrell Pryor was a different quarterback this year, and he determined all this after seeing the Buckeyes play Marshall. Yes that's right, Marshall. Mchsay stated that last year Pryor was uncomfortable in the pocket and off balance in games, but after the Rose Bowl and the game against Marshall he sees a new Pryor. What McShay is forgetting is that Marshall's defense has nothing on the Hurricanes defense with impact players like Mcarthy, Spence, Harris, Armstrong and many more.
McShay says that Ohio State has clearly shown that Pryor will be a pocket passer and that he has committed himself to playing well within the pocket. He also goes on to say that Ohio State is not going to run all the option game.
Colin McCarthy thinks otherwise has something to say about it. (see video clip below)
Mcarthy stated this week that the defense sees that Pryor is trying to throw the ball more, but the Canes are sure that he will try and run as well. McCarthy says "as a defense we are ready to stop the run", he also adds "they have a great offensive line and we know that. However we also know they'll try and use the run then hit us with the deep ball, and were ready for that. We are ready for both."
Trevor Matich also seems to think that he showed great control under pressure against Marshall. He states that this is how a pocket passer avoids the rush by stepping up in the pocket. When Matich goes to the clips to demonstrate his point they showed two clips. One clip shows Pryor stepping up in the pocket and throwing downfield for a 20 yd completion. The second clip however demonstrates Pryor on the run when under pressure, exactly the same pressure he is going to feel all game from the Canes. This pressure is going to lead Pryor to reverting to running much more than Ohio State wants everyone to believe, and we agree with Colin Mcarthy that they will try and switch up the deep ball occasionally but of course they will still run the option game, who are they fooling.
Here is a video clip of McCarthy and a few others talking about the game.

Shannon Says Seantrell Henderson Progressing Well
Shannon also said that it took Orlando Franklin the entire season to get to the point that he could play a whole game. Canes fans are hoping that Seantrel can get up to full game conditioning by mid season or just after. Currently Henderson comes in at 6' 8" and 355 pounds but Shannon says he has already started losing weight.
Shannon has said that he is not sure whether or not Seantrel will play against FAMU, but we have to assume that he will and Orlando Franklin has stated that he thinks Henderson will play as well. Seantrel is going to be a great addition to the offense this year and for years to come, Canes fans should be super excited about his potential and all that comes with him being on the team.

Canes Looking To Shake The Rattle And Roll
We wanna see the offensive line come out immediately and completely control the Rattler defensive line, we see know reason why this shouldn't happen. With nearly 700 pounds coming from two of our o-linemen we should have no problem giving Jacory all the protection he needs. The run game should be great next week as well and we expect big things from Damien Berry and Mike James while Cooper still pushes through his recovery which is going well.
Some Updates:
Laron Byrd's knee is doing just fine after tests show that it was just bruised.
Linebacker Jordan Futch is still recovering slowly and has a lot of progress to make still unfortunately.

Canes Kickoff Season In One Week
The University of Miami officially had its first day of classes today and you could feel the excitement on campus. The Hurricane football team kicked off practice this morning at 6:45 am and Travis Benjamin was ready to roll early on scoring three touchdowns today. Ray-Ray Armstrong was dialed in as well. Armstrong came out focused and intent on getting all over the offense and he did this quickly by picking off a well timed interception.
The Canes have pulled back on full contact as the days wind down to the season opener, but the energy is full steam. Tight end Chase Ford is shaping up very nicely and the Miami Herald just did a feature article on his performance and our hopes for his future. Seantrell Henderson is gonna be lights out for the Hurricanes this year on the offensive line, so that's a huge plus to watch for. The Defense is still fine tuning itself but looking very strong.
Jacory has looked steady in practice as well, there seems to be a little more zip on his passing game. We will see immediately next Thursday whether or not he has chosen to improve the velocity of his passes or is sticking with his arch-like delivery. Either way this year is put up or shut up for Jacory. His numbers were great last year and he he can't claim inexperience at this point because he has had plenty. Jacory is really going to be a huge factor in whether or not the Canes are national contenders this year, Harris has to be absolutely phenomenal. J-12 needs to come out and show that he is a top Heisman contender by delivering commanding performances against Ohio State and FSU. Pressure is on Jacory to perform big time, there is no beating around it. Jacory must perform very well if he wants to standout and give our team the chance they need to be a top 5 team and national championship contender.
Gamtime is 7 pm, Thursday September 2nd for FAMU.

Grandal & Hernandez Sign Deals
Yasmani Grandal has also inked his deal without he Cinncinnati Reds, his deal came with a $2 million dollar signing bonus. The deal is 4 years for $3.2 million. The "Yaz Man" was a great catcher at UM, he consistently got better every year and this past year was his breakout year batting over .400 and leading the ACC. Congrats Yasmani!

Two A Days Baby !!!
The Defense saw Vaughn Telemaque and Sean Spence lay out some big hits in the linebacker postions. Spence and Andrew Smtih both had a stop in the backfield on a Canes RB for loss. Ramon Buchanan had a nice pass break-up and good open field tackle.
The Offense saw Tommy Streeter haul in several deep balls. He used his leaping ability to pull in a few catches over the top of defenders which was impressive. Mike james put up a 70 yard touchdown today and he continues to shine, we expect big things from Mike James so continue to watch him. The rest of the receivers worked on their downfield blocking today. Seantrel Henderson and Malcolm Bunche combine for a total weight of 660 pounds with nearly 13 feet of wing span to block with. This combination is going to give Miami a serious edge this year with the running game and with pass protection for Jacory. We can't wait to see the offensive line do work this year. Greg Cooper was back in pads today along with linebacker Jordan Futch. Cooper continues to watched very closely by Canes fans and coaches as well all know his potential is tremendous if he recovers well.
The Second practice of the day takes place this afternoon.

Greg Cooper Will Be Ready For FAMU
Cooper tore his right knee last year during the Champs sports bowl game. Last week Cooper stated he would be ready to play in all 14 games of the year. Cooper is one of the most beloved Hurricanes right along side Jacory so Canes faithful really want to see him return and be even stronger. It would be nice to see him pull a McGahee recovery and coming out swinging quickly, but only time will tell.
We will update you next week on his status and practice performance.

Canes Season Ticket Holder Open Practice Recap
The tight end position is starting to shape up nice as the Canes have a multitude of options now that Jimmy Graham is gone and the position is up for grabs. Asanate Cleveland had a stellar catch against 3 defenders where he went up the middle to grab a ball thrown high. Cleveland came down with the catch drawing contact from defenders and he still spun away to score a touchdown. Cleveland is a 6'5", 250 pound freshman. Chase Ford also had some great catches up the middle and looked very solid as well. Randy Shannon has said that both newcomers should see at keast 15-30 plays per game.
Allen Bailey sacked Jacory Harris and heard boo's from the crowd when he did. Funny Stuff.
