Notre Dame Vs. Miami Now Scheduled, Time To Stomp The Irish

The Miami Hurricanes have finally inked a deal that will have them playing the Fightin Irish again in 2012.

The exact date is : Ocotber 6, 2012

The Location is : Soldier Field, Chicago

Can you say....Let's Get Ready To Rumble....!

Canes fans have long awaited another chance to play the Irish in the regular season. Back in the 80's the Canes had great rivalries with Notre Dame. Who can forget the 1985 blowout where the Hurricanes embarrassed the Irish, the Canes whipped them 58-7. Miami played Notre Dame four times during the 1980's. The Canes beat the Irish 3 times in the 80's and each time they beat the Irish they went on to win a National Championship, the only exception was 1988 when the Canes lost.

These match-ups were known as Catholics vs Convicts, and we all know how bad-ass the U was in the 80's.

In 1990 the Canes faced the Irish again, this time the Irish knocked off the Canes 29-20 killing any chance of the national title. After the 1990 game the regular season series was stopped. The Canes are itching to renew the rivalry in 2012. They will meet again in 2016 and a new regular season series could begin again if all goes well.

Anyway you slice it the Canes are ready to do work when it comes to fightin' the Irish.

Let's go Canes...!

Jacory Needs A Big Year, Again.

Jacory Harris put up some serious numbers last year, numbers that put him up against some of the best in the country. Harris threw for 3,352 yards in 2009. The last Cane to throw for 3,000 yards was Ken Dorsey in 2002. This year Harris is being touted as a top 10 Heisman candidate and Manning award "watchee". Some big names have won both of these awards in the years past: Colt Mcoy, Tim Tebow, Vince Young, and Matt Ryan to name a few.

In order for the Canes to be a top 5 contender for the national championship this year, Jacory will need to have another stellar year and hopefully eclipse last year's impressive numbers in the process. Jacory threw for 24 touchdowns in 2009 and ran for 1. This year our number on him is 27 passing TD's and 3 rushing TD's. We are looking for his passing yards to be at or above 3,500.

Here is how Jacory can get 3,500 yds:

Game 1 - FAMU: Prediction - 300+ yard passing to start season.
Our exact pick is 320 yds. - (2009 - 217 yards)

Game 2 -Ohio State: Prediction -250 yard game.
Our exact pick is 260 yds.

Game 3 - Pittsburgh: Prediction - 275 yard game.
(Pittsburgh's defensive issues revolve around the secondary where two starters were lost)
Our exact pick is 280 yds.

Game 4 - Clemson: Prediction -275 yard game.
Our exact pick is 295 yards. - (2009 - 256 yards)

Game 5 - Florida State: Prediction -300 yard game.
Our exact pick is 280 yards. - (2009 - 386 yards)

Game 6 - Duke: Prediction - 325 yard game.
Our exact pick is 305 yards. - (2009 - 348 yards)

Game 7 - North Carolina: Prediction - 300 yard game.
Our exact pick is 320 yards. - (2009 - 319 yards)

Game 8 - Virginia: Prediction - 250 yard game.
Our exact pick is 260 yards. - (2009 - 232 yards)

Game 9 - Maryland: Prediction - 350 yard game.
Our exact pick is 370 yards. - (2009 - 348 yards)

Game 10 - Georgia Tech: Prediction - 300 yard game.
Our exact pick is 285 yards. - (2009 - 270 yards)

Game 11 - Virginia Tech: Preciction - 250 yard game.
Our exact pick is 240 yards. - (2009 - 150 yards)

Game 12 - USF: Prediction - 300 yard game
Our exact pick is 295 yards. - (2009 - 161 yards)

Offense - Game 1: Florida A&M....Peek At Last Year's Offensive Stats

The Miami Hurricanes beat the Florida A&M Rattlers by 32 points last year in a victory that saw Jacory Harris lead the Canes to score 31 points in the first half of the game. The Canes won the game 48-16.

Damien Berry got his first carries of his career in this game and quickly showed himself as great halfback to-be. He carried 14 times for 162 yards including a 35 yard touchdown run. Berry ended up averaging 6.6 yards per carry in the 2009 season with over 600 yards rushing and 8 touchdowns.

Thearon Collier had a 61 yard punt return for touchdown in the game. Collier had 2 punt return touchdowns for the Canes in 2009. He had a total of 158 yards at an average of 13.2 yards per return. Collier also had 250 yards as a receiver last year. Thearon should be another strong asset for the Canes this year, he is a junior from Booker t. Washington High School.

Jacory Harris was 16 for 24 against the Rattlers last year and he threw for 217 total yards with 2 touchdowns. Jacory was sacked only 1 time in the game but he threw 2 interceptions.

Leonard Hankeson had 2 catches for 42 yards and 1 touchdown. Lee Chambers did most of the dirty work in the game grinding out the rush with 16 carries for 46 yards in the game. The Canes averaged 5.6 yards per carry in this game which was the highest rushing average all season.

Jacory's Thumb All Over Media

Jacory harris had an injured thumb last year, "I feared the worst" he said. Now Jacory says he is recovered and ready to let it fly this year for the Canes. Jacory needs to make sure he concentrates on the strength of his passing this year and the velocity he has on the ball. His thumb will need to be in perfect shape to keep him from favoring it or limiting his natural throwing motion.
