Hurricanes Baseball: Miami Has Chance For Acc Finals, Virginia Stands In The Way

The Canes go into their matchup against Virginia at 12 noon Saturday with "'Must Win" mind frames. They are preparing to battle with the top ranked team in the country for the top spot in the ACC division A bracket. This will and must be a battle royale, a cage match, a no holds barred showdown with bats swinging and arms flinging.

Virginia is going to lay it all on the line that's for sure.

They are coming off their series win against Miami just last weekend. However that series was hard fought and Miami's hitting let them down while the Cavs remained just consistent in the series not spectacular, which happened to be just enough to get them the series win.

Tomorrow "just enough" won't cut it for either team.

Miami certainly has was it takes to beat Virginia. The Cavs haven't looked overly impressive the past week after the close series against Miami and a loss to Florida State two days ago in the tourney. Miami needs to keep its bats hot and get out to an early lead, starting pitching will be very important for the Canes. The relief staff will most likely determine the outcome of this game however. If the middle relievers and closers can keep the game in check by limiting their pitch counts with no walks and lots of ground outs we will be ok. The hitting has to be there as well, we cannot be sporadic with our hitting and run support. We need RBI's all day long and no runners left on base without just cause. We have already shown that even 10 runs isn't enough sometimes so we must score a minimum of 8 runs to win tomorrow's matchup.

Our Prediction: Miami 8, Virginia 7.
