Trey McKinney Transfers To University of Miami


Trey McKinney-Jones has signed a grant-in-aid to attend the University of Miami and play men’s basketball, announced head Hurricanes coach Frank Haith today. Jones will be eligible to play with the Hurricanes beginning with the 2011-12 season.


Jack Mclinton took the same route when he transferred to the Univeristy of Miami.

McKinney is a 6-5, 205-pound combo guard who played in 61 games. He started 38 times in two seasons for the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He averaged 11 points in 29 minutes per game, he shot 48 percent from the field and 75 percent from the line, he had 60 assists and 4 rebounds. He was a Wendy’s High School Heisman Trophy winner for the state of Wisconsin. He also won back-to-back state triple jump titles in 2007 & 2008.
